Goal 1: Environmental Education

Advance quality and access of environmental education programming and resources

Goal Overview: As a part of the University of California, Berkeley, we share a foundational commitment to education and research. It is paramount to us that students have the access and means to be literate in sustainability issues. Education, in our view, happens both inside and outside the lecture hall. Therefore, we aim to provide co-curricular learning opportunities, as well as enhance the level of discourse on topics related to sustainability and social justice through curriculum development as well as campus activities.

Goal 2: Community Engagement

Strengthen programs and resources to deepen engagement with sustainability initiatives in the community and to promote wellness.

Goal Overview: This includes retaining and recruiting current, future and former students, promoting transparency, and connecting students' passions with sustainability and related initiatives. We aim to provide a home and community that is not limited to the sustainability community, and connects to the larger regional and ideological movement between other universities and beyond.

Goal 3: Leadership & Professional Development

Expand opportunities and provide comprehensive tools to refine leadership and professional development skills among students.

Goal Overview: We are committed to providing resources and tools to students to encourage them to actualize their visions through career offerings and networking, interpersonal and professional development, and co-curricular learning opportunities. We plan to achieve this by offering funding, resources, advising, and events for students on campus.

Goal 4: Advocacy & Action

Develop organizational advocacy channels and expand civic service programming.

Goal Overview: We are committed to giving students opportunities to understand and be engaged in political and social issues, both on and off campus, by providing tools they need to actively participate in political advocacy. We also aim to support students who are already politically engaged by connecting them to appropriate channels and platforms and strengthening their partnerships.

Goal 5: Equity & Inclusion

Integrate equity and inclusion programmatically and culturally throughout our organization

Goal Overview: Through training student staff and supporting the UCB environmental community, we are committed to integrating equity and inclusion to current and new programs by providing space for underrepresented and marginalized students, reflecting on our mission and values, educating students regarding how different aspects of identity impact people disparately, and encouraging challenging yet important discussions and thinking on the topics of equity and inclusion. By committing to these objectives within equity and inclusion, we are also committing to strengthening and building our community.
