Academic and Professional Development Associate

Jade (she/her) is a second year majoring in Molecular Environmental Biology. With experience in science communication and community outreach, she hopes to create an inclusive space where people from all backgrounds and professions can come together to create a more sustainable world. She is passionate about environmental genomics, public health in the context of environmentalism, and Indigenous land stewardship. She has been an avid weightlifter for 8 years, and in her free time she loves crocheting and exploring cities.

Tiffany Mar (she/her)

TGIF Program Associate

Tiffany is a fourth year student majoring in Society and Environment and minoring in Data Science. She is interested in exploring how community-driven innovation can solve pressing sustainability challenges. In the future, she would like to pursue a career at the intersection of technology and the environment where she can advocate for both people and the planet. In her free time, Tiffany enjoys writing and doodling, kickboxing with friends, and being outdoors.

Katherine Menendez (she/they)

Katherine is entering her last year as a Political Science major with minors in Ethnic Studies and Hispanic Languages, Linguistics, and Bilingualism. They are proud to be from South Central LA and a daughter of Salvadoran immigrants. Kat Nguyen (she/her)

Data Analysis Associate

Kat is a fourth year majoring in Data Science with minors in GIST and Sustainable Design. She is passionate about researching nature-based climate solutions and exploring the intersections of sustainability and technology to discover innovative ways of advancing environmental conservation efforts. In her role at SERC, she strives to advance zero waste efforts at Cal by leading the campus’ Single Use Plastic Elimination by 2030 Policy. During her free time, she enjoys going on long hikes, picnics, and teaching yoga.

Sanjana NItturkar (she/her)

Marketing and Communications Associate

Sanjana Nitturkar is a third year majoring in Molecular Environmental Biology. Coming from a family of farmers in rural India, she is passionate about applications of science/tech to agricultural sustainability, food insecurity, and climate equity for communities in the rural world. In the future, she hopes to couple her technical work with community work to highlight people’s lives as the priority of mitigating the climate crisis. In her free time, she enjoys playing with her girlband, cooking, lifting, and doing creative activities with her lovely roommates.

Kwabena Owusu Sarfo (he/him)

Kwabena is an incoming Energy and Resource Group (ERG) graduate student in fall 2023. He’s from Ghana and has worked on energy projects in West Africa, particularly power plant construction. He’s interested in decarbonizing electric power grids, global climate change, and sustainable energy transition, particularly in developing countries. Gaurika is a fourth year pursuing simultaneous degrees in Sustainable Environmental Design and Environmental Economics and Policy. Lucy is a third-year majoring in Urban Studies. Growing up in the woods of Virginia and around the Bay Area kindled her deep interests in rural/urban studies, design, and storytelling. Lucy earned her Composting Educator Certification at Garden for the Environment in SF, and she has taught hands-on composting workshops at both GFE and the Bay Area Youth Climate Summit. Keshwanth Puligulla is a third-year Environmental Economics and Policy and Data Science double major. He is passionate about preserving our environment and loves exploring the vast nuances to solving the climate crisis, whether it be through energy, policy, or economics.
